Common Rattling Problems and Solutions about Car Seats

Automotive seat is the largest contact area with the passenger's body in the car interior system, and its comfort greatly affects the driver and passengers. Automotive NVH research refers to the science of how to solve and reduce noise, vibration and harshness in vehicles, and is an important factor in measuring the design and manufacture of automobiles.

 

Noise, as a negative factor that is perceived extremely easily by drivers and passengers, has attracted great attention. More than 80% of the noise comes from the interior system, and seat rattling becomes the main factor of interior system rattling.

 

Car seat noise is mainly divided into two categories, static noise for the car at rest without noise, dynamic noise for the vehicle through different road conditions, to a certain speed when driving without noise.

What is the classification of car seat rattling?

 

Car seat reverberation according to the principle of generation can be divided into three categories.

 

  • friction sound, that is, the cause of mutual friction between objects. According to the different materials, the friction sound also has differences.

 

  • vibration sound, that is, the object resonance or structural vibration generated sound.

 

  • knocking sound, that is, the sound of two adjacent objects installed between each other, such as "click" "da da" "ding" and other discontinuous sound.

 

Case one:

 

Noise position: seat back skeleton steel wire and foam

 

Analysis: in the resting state, the seat back frame steel wire and foam interference 5mm, when the occupants ride, the amount of interference increases. In the bumpy road movement, under the premise of the huge amount of interference, the two produce relative motion, friction generated noise.

 

Solution: reduce the gap between the backrest skeleton steel wire and backrest foam to 1.5mm; add non-woven fabric between the backrest steel wire skeleton and foam to avoid direct contact between the two.

 

Case two:

 

Noise position: backrest lock latch

 

Analysis: backrest lock latch single-wrapped plastic, and wrapped plastic and latch fit is not solid, there is a gap; unlocking empty stroke is small, unlocking steel wire, backrest mounting bracket and unlocking box mounting bracket relative tolerance of not more than 1mm, manufacturing can not be guaranteed.

 

Solution: change the latch from single-wrapped plastic to double-wrapped plastic to ensure a complete fit with the metal parts and eliminate Y-directional movement; increase the plastic sleeve between the unlocking wire and the lock to prevent the two from contacting each other; increase the unlocking air travel and reduce the relative tolerance of the unlocking wire, the backrest lock mounting bracket and the unlocking box mounting bracket.

 

Case three:

 

Noise location: front cushion rattling

 

Analysis: the car cushion is arranged with four scattered S-shaped spring, when the occupants ride, will produce pressure on the cushion S-shaped spring, the seat in a variety of roads will produce S-shaped spring and skeleton friction generated by the noise.

 

Solution: the four S-shaped springs are connected into a whole by injection molding process, and the contact part with the skeleton is made of plastic, this structure can make the seat spring more solid and not easy to produce displacement, so as to avoid the occurrence of strange noise during the road test.
